Every month, I publish a little (picture) diary from Budapest with the highlights of the past month. Here’s September! Julika took me on her hotspot tour for a day, I attempted to run the half marathon of Budapest with friends, and at the end of the month, I moved apartments.
Besides that, I also had the Wombat events, went hiking with Budapest Hikers, and of course did some work. I have some news about work that I haven’t shared yet: I got a job here in Budapest. Woohoo, that means I’ll be hanging around here for a while longer!
Julci-tour! Julika a Dutch illustrator in Budapest, and one of my friends. I asked her to put together a tour for me ar0und her favorite hotspots, so that’s how we started the month. One of her hotspots was a very nice tea house, an oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of the city.
Unfortunately, one day was too short to visit her list of hotspots, so we’ll be doing a part two soon and I’ll write about it then. Start following her on Instagram now!

Time for the Budapest half marathon! I postponed my half marathon until October but I ran 13k during this event. My friends both finished, with beautiful times and their first half marathon experience!
My friend Esther didn’t only fly over here for the half marathon, also for Budapest of course. We celebrated the weekend with a picnic with some of my friends, and for her last night we went up to the Buda Castle with some drinks and food to enjoy the view.
After a (way too long) summer break, it was once again time for a hike with Budapest Hikers. This time we went to the Pilis mountains at Dömös.
It started out all sunny, but it started raining halfway. The view wasn’t far, but still beautiful and mysterious. And the hike was so hard!
I moved apartments last weekend! We had to leave our apartment on Erzsébet körút, but we found a beautiful new apartment in Ferencváros, the 9th district.
One disadvantage? It’s a little bit of traveling away from the part of the city where most of my activities are centered. My friends, the gym, the meetups, etc. are mostly in district 6 and 7. That means I’ll be spending a bit more time in the public transport, but luckily I’ll receive my e-reader this week.
Then some random pictures from this month. The first one is from a blind tattoo-event: how cool! You tell the artist five things about yourself and they make a design based on that, which they tattoo without you knowing what it is. I went along with my new friend, what an experience! I’m seriously thinking about getting this done as well.
The second picture is from HILDA, a restaurant here in Budapest known for their breakfast. Their amazing breakfast, it was so good! I definitely have to head back there soon.

And now October has started, the month of fall and Halloween. I should start planning some appropriate Wombat outings… This month I’ll be going back to the Netherlands for a few days, getting used to our new apartment, and starting a new job. Exciting!
